This question is taken from the Accuplacer, which is used by students applying to community college.
26) A boy is 22 years old. His mother is 2.5 times his age. When the boy is 30 years old, what will be the age of his mother?
We are looking for the mother’s age. We know that she is 2.5 times her son’s age of 22, which is 55.
If she is 55, then she is 33 years older than her son. So, 30 + 33 = 63.
